An Insurance policy is gospel to a high quality interstate removalist……many companies wipe their hands of insurance and leave it to the client to organise their own. This presents all kinds of problems as the client is inexperienced to know what to ask for and what to look out for in policies. For example there is generally Gold and Silver Policies available for furniture relocation interstate, if you choose the silver you are more than likely to not be covered for accidental damage on the removalists part……I would suggest this is the most important cover you need. Silver generally only covers for damage in transit only.
You are far better off using a company like iMovers that is transparent and very clear about what you are and aren’t covered for. If your removalists (other companies of course) claims that all insurance is included in the quote and doesn’t elaborate on it…….or calls it damage cover or assurance not insurance……alarm bells should be ringing! Every day of the week some un expecting innocent person in Australia gets the raw end of the deal when it comes to removalists insurance because they chose the wrong removalist and didn’t clarify their insurance enough. Put simply…….As the client you need to pay a lot of attention when the insurance topic comes up. In writing all of this we need to make it also clear that our removalists are very good at keeping furniture safe from damage, insurance is just a safe guard against accidents.
